What is lung cancer?

Lung cancer is a type of cancer that starts in the lungs, usually in the cells lining the air passages. It is one of the most common cancers worldwide and is often linked to smoking, although non-smokers can also develop it.

Type: Lung cancer can be categorized into two main types: non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and small cell lung cancer (SCLC), each with different subtypes.

Symptoms of lung cancer may include persistent coughing, chest pain, shortness of breath, coughing up blood, fatigue, and unexplained weight loss.

Treatment options depend on the type and stage of the cancer but may include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy.

Early detection and treatment can improve outcomes for lung cancer patients.
